  ImageSince 1887, the Waller Independent School District (Waller ISD) has had a long-standing tradition of academic and extracurricular excellence.  Waller ISD today is a dynamic and fast-growing school district providing an excellent education to more than 6,800 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

Waller ISD is one of the largest school districts in total square miles of land mass in the Greater Houston area, encompassing 328 square miles in Waller and northwest Harris counties. Waller ISD is located on Hwy 290, approximately 40 miles west of downtown Houston, in a semi-rural agricultural region that is rapidly expanding in residential and commercial development. The population in Waller ISD is approximately 30,000 residents.

Innovative thinking and teamwork are hallmarks of the district.  In 2016, Waller ISD and all eight campuses received the highest Texas Education Agency TEA accountability rating ‘Met Standard.’  Waller ISD provides high-quality instruction and educational programs for all students to enhance their knowledge and skills.  The District has adopted the Professional Learning Community model for instructional and administrative decision making.  The model ensures that students learn within a collaborative environment.  These educational opportunities generate a strong foundation for academic, professional, and personal success.   Waller ISD provides a number of educational and enrichment opportunities to pre-school and school age children, and a wide variety of adult education programs to the community.

  • Waller ISD schools earned 22 TEA Distinction Designations for academic performance in 2015-2016 school year
  • High School Graduation Rate: 98.4%; Well above the Texas average of 88.3%
  • Student/Teacher Ratio: 16.8:1
  • Fields Store Elementary School is a 2014 U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School – One of 25 in Texas and one of 337 in the nation
  • Roberts Road Elementary School is a TEA 2014-2015 Title 1 High-Progress and High-Performing Reward School; One of 400 selected in Texas
  • UIL Academic Team, Fine Arts, Athletics, FFA, and other student organizations compete and win at Area, Region, and State levels
  • More than $3 million in scholarships and grants were offered to Class of 2016
  • Waller ISD surpassed $5.1 million in energy cost savings
  • Waller ISD passed a $71.32 million bond referendum with 64% voter approval rating.  The bond referendum had the highest voter turnout in Waller ISD’s history.   The bond referendum will address  student growth, safety and security, transportation, technology, career and technical education, physical education and athletics, and existing facility renovations and expansions
  • Waller ISD's Moody Investors Service Rating is 'Aa3' based on the District's solid finances and reserves, a manageable level of debt, and the diverse economy in the Houston area.
